Studio in a School

Introduction

Studio in a School NYC fosters the creative and intellectual development of New York City students through quality visual arts programmes directed by arts professionals. Since its foundation in 1977 by philanthropist Agnes Gund and President Emerita of The Museum of Modern Art, our organisation has brought in-depth, high quality instruction and engagement to children and youth in economically distressed New York City neighbourhoods. Today, Studio NYC provides annual visual arts instruction for 30,000 students who otherwise would go without.

All Studio NYC classes are taught by professional, exhibiting artists. Our programmes—collaborative and adaptable to diverse needs—extend to the entire community. We create model partnerships with pre-K through 12th grade classroom teachers and administrators. Our dedicated, experienced team designs age-appropriate art curricula for students that support the schools’ educational goals; provides professional development for educators and engages families in hands-on activities to share arts experiences with their children. At Studio NYC, we believe in enriching young lives through visual arts and inspiring children to be creative problem solvers.
