From time to time, we profile some of the Idea’s Makers within the Ideas Foundation community to give you better understanding of what to expect when you do yours. We want to share their stories and inspire you to become part of a creative community where anyone with ideas is welcome.

Allow us to introduce you to Ellie Stephens, who is currently on an apprenticeship with McCann Manchester.

How did you first get involved with Ideas Foundation?

I was introduced to Ideas foundation by my High school teacher, Mrs Furey. She told me that Ideas foundation help young students like myself get into the Creative Industry. This opportunity was perfect for me. I never really knew exactly what I wanted to do when I left college but I knew that I definitely wanted to get into the creative industry.

Tell us about your journey with Ideas Foundation.

I signed up to Ideas Foundation and that is where my creative journey began. I.F gave me so many opportunities to work with top advertising agencies such as BJL and McCann Manchester. I did multiple Summer Schools at BJL where I learnt so many new skills and a real insight into what it is like working in an advertising agency. When I visited McCann in Prestbury I was so impressed. The 8-acre campus is home to 370 talented people and I had the chance to talk to them about what they do.

How has Ideas Foundation benefitted you?

I am now an apprentice at McCann Manchester (one of the world’s top advertising agencies). Without all of the work experience and guidance from I.F I wouldn’t be where I am today. The opportunities and skills that I.F gave me definitely set me apart from other candidates.

What is the most valuable thing about Ideas Foundation for you?

The most valuable thing about Ideas Foundation for me is what they offer to young students. The opportunities they offer are amazing and will definitely increase your chances of getting into the industry.

How did Ideas Foundation help to inspire you to do what you are doing?

I am so thankful to my teacher Mrs Furey for introducing me to Ideas Foundation because they have helped me so much get to where I am now. After experiencing what it’s like to work in the creative industry I just knew it was where I belong. My creative skills are tested every day at McCann and I absolutely love working for them.
