Pantene Extends Power of Hair Programme into 2025 and 2026

The Power of Hair project in action

We are delighted to share that Pantene has extended its partnership with Ideas Foundation to continue the Power of Hair programme through 2025 and 2026, reflecting the value and impact the programme has delivered in schools across the UK.

Originally launched as a three-year educational initiative (2021–2024), Power of Hair focused on tackling afro-textured hair discrimination in schools. Over that period, the programme reached thousands of young people across the UK, creating safe spaces for open conversations about identity, culture and confidence. The strength of feedback from schools, students and teachers demonstrated the importance of continuing and evolving this work.

As the programme enters its next phase, the focus has broadened to explore identity and self-expression more deeply. While continuing to celebrate diverse hair types and experiences, the workshops now encourage young people to reflect on their personal relationship with their hair and how it connects to confidence, belonging and self-image.

Delivered through creative workshops in poetry, photography, digital storytelling, games design and brand experience, Power of Hair gives students a platform to express themselves, build confidence and explore themes that are often left unspoken in classrooms.

Since launch, the programme has reached over 11,000 students nationwide, with 92% reporting increased confidence and 100% saying they would recommend the workshop to a friend.

We are proud to continue this work with Pantene and to further develop a programme that places youth voice, creativity and confidence at its heart, building on a strong and collaborative partnership.
