American Ballet Theatre

Over the past two years, American Ballet Theatre (ABT) was honoured to work with the amazing students and teachers at four New York City public schools through the Burberry Inspire program: JHS 123 – The Bronx Urban Community School; Highland Park Community School in Brooklyn; Kappa III in the Bronx, and Middle School 358 in Queens – The Magnet Schools for S.T.E.A.M. Exploration and Experiential Learning.

ABT’s aim was to bring dance to students to help connect arts learning to academic curriculum, introduce students to career possibilities in the arts, and help to cultivate an appreciation for culture in entire school communities.

How do you teach dance, and foster a connection to the arts, when schools are closed and students are working remotely? If you are lucky enough to have a Burberry partner like Northern Ballet, the answers are varied and exciting. We are delighted to share the films, student work, and resources developed by ABT, and by ABT in partnership with Northern Ballet.
