Mentor Showcase Event

On Thursday 5th June 2025 we hosted a mentoring showcase at The Manchester College.
The event brought together 12 industry professionals and over 50 students and creative media lecturers.
Mentoring plays a vital role in the creative industries, providing students with the guidance and the expertise they need to succeed… And the networking event gave students a chance to meet industry professionals face to face.
One of the key takeaways from the showcase was how everyone benefits from the mentoring relationship: industry professionals gain insights into future talent and audiences, students gain real life insights and connections that can transform their CVs and careers. This is especially important for T Level students.
Thanks to everyone who attended our mentor showcase and contributed to its success. A shout out to The Manchester College team especially Vanessa Simpson, Charlotte Mack and Belinda Peach for organising and to the MPA for promoting.
Special thanks to the following companies who made time to come along:
- HAVAS
- TBWA
- ITV
- Refinery Marketing Communication
- Seventy 7 Group
- Global Media
- Frog
- Cravens
- Gig Retail
- Kate Lander

The Ideas Foundation Inaugural Mentor Showcase at Manchester College new city centre campus was a great success last night. As the Ideas Foundation Employability Bootcamp and Mentor programme heads towards its 10th year I am proud to be there from the beginning continuing to develop and support this unique, trail blazing talent pipeline for the Greater Manchester Creative Media community.

For the first networking event it was a great success, providing students with the opportunity to showcase their work, practise presenting in a professional networking setting, and connect with their mentors in a relaxed and supportive environment. It was lovely to see the students interacting with colleagues from across the Northwest creative sector. The event provided a valuable opportunity for mentors to also explore the facilities here at The Manchester College, gain a deeper insight into the Ideas Foundation programme and our vision here at the Manchester college’s Media department to develop the next generation of media creatives, thank you to everyone who attended.
