We have two vacancies for trustees; one with significant agency or brand experience; and one with a legal background who can help us navigate the new world of creativity as AI starts to play a big part in the lives of those we serve, the young people from less advantaged backgrounds.
Come and join our amazing team and help us to nurture a new creative class.

To wrap up ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers Week,’ we’d like you to meet more of the amazing young engineers featured in our ‘Engineer Your Story’ project. In collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering, we’ve captured some incredible images thanks to photographer @michaelhcockerham . Visit our website to explore more inspiring stories and access the complete collection of free resources.
Marcelle : As a software engineer at Google I help the product team see services like YouTube through different lenses – to meet the customers of today and tomorrow.
Queen Mary University of London undergraduates: Women can code and engineer the world for a better future. As students at Queen Mary University of London we are surrounded by inspiring women who want to share their knowledge with others
Yusuf: I started as a law student and later studied ICT. I am a product-oriented engineer who has worked with Panasonic and Mitsubishi. During the covid pandemic my engineering colleagues and I developed the ShiVent, a non-electric and non-invasive ventilator. I also design sustainable products to address the challenges of global warming.

Celebrating `Tomorrow’s Engineers Week` with stories from some of the engineers who took part in our ‘Engineer your story’ project with Royal Academy of Engineering and amazing photographs from @michaelhcockerham. The project was created to inspire young engineers through the power of photography and the full set of resources, available for educators to download for free, can be found on our website.
Anas, Kiera, Bukunmi, Yosef @amosbursary
“As Amos Bursary Trust scholars we are using our talents to engineer our future careers and successes. Along the way we are building a community of young people eager to share our stories to inspire others”.
Pryanka
“Being hit by a car changed me, but not in the way you might think. Seeing how doctors approached fixing my body opened my eyes to the endless possibilities in engineering, and I wanted to be part of that”.
Gunay:
“Engineering is an art; any engineering challenge is like drawing on a canvas for me. You imagine the drawing, paint all your face, fingers, change it too many times, at the end you make what you wanted. When I face corrosion and materials related challenges, I imagine first, like I do while drawing, then I try, change, fail until I find the best solution”.

Celebrating `Tomorrow`s Engineers Week` by looking back at our ‘Engineer your story’ project with the Royal Academy of Engineering and photographer Michael Cockerham. We created the project to promote diversity in engineering through digital storytelling.
Visit our website to see the full set of resources available for educators to download for free. Each of the 17 posters gives an insight to life as an engineer, here are just three:
Sara
“I am an Italian-born classical pianist researching a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and Music, as well as a live music photographer. I bring creativity and engineering together, and combine my interests using artificial intelligence to engineer new approaches to generating music”.
Yash
“I fell in love with flying machines at the age of five after seeing an F-16 fly over me back home in India. NASA’s Apollo 11 mission changed my views on what we can achieve. I have turned from a kid with a dream into an aerospace engineer, pilot and aspiring astronaut”.
Mia
“Ballet has always been a part of my life - but you are only ever as good as the people you dance with. It is the same with biomedical engineering. You find solutions by working as a team”.

This week saw the launch of #makingthecreativemajority in Parliament with speakers Baroness Deborah Bull, James Purnell, Dr Tamsyn Den and Prof Dave O`Brien.
The report, and previous what works report, has listened to several organisations such as @ideasfoundation , @sandraadu_ as well as creative employers such as Iain Bundred and Patrick McCrae. It analyses ‘What Works’ to support diversity and inclusion in creative education and the talent pipeline with a focus on the 16+ age category. The report was produced with partners @kings_college_london, @officialuom, @unioftheartslondon, @YouTube, @paulhamlynfoundation, and Creative PEC.
Key findings:
• Creative workforce dominated by graduates
• Huge inequality of gender, ethnicity & class across creative HE courses & employment outcomes
• Russell Group unis have the most work to do to support DEI in creative HE
• Apprenticeships aren`t working for the creative industries

We are always thrilled to see our alumni progress and share their achievements. On this #Worldmentalhealthday, we celebrate the stunning work of Shafia Fiaz, in her latest role as artist in residence for 42nd Street, a mental health charity based in Manchester that uses creativity as a tool for wellbeing.
Shafia has gone from an Ideas Foundation Creative Media Bootcamp at Manchester College to Professional Illustrator who became the first diverse role model for Manchester Publicity Association’s ‘A Place for You’ campaign to celebrate diverse role models.
Shafia says “I find immense joy and fulfilment in using my artistic skills to explore and address various topics of mental health and its effects. In this series of illustrations, I have chosen to focus on the profound impact of mental health issues on both young individuals and adults.
In the creative process, I decided not to incorporate facial expressions in most of the illustrations. Instead, I wanted to give a sense of emotional detachment and disconnection, symbolizing the feeling of being lost and devoid of emotions that many individuals experience during their mental health struggles.
Through this artistic exploration, I hope to shed light on the importance of mental health awareness, empathy, and compassion in our society.”
Shafia is a Digital Producer who has worked for some incredible companies within the city such as the Manchester Museum and more recently the Ideas Foundation. Originally from Pakistan, She has cultivated her impressive career in the digital and creative industry through determination and talent for her craft. In fact, Shafia’s passion for digital production has been recognised on several occasions, having won Creative & Digital Media Student of the Year!

The Ideas Foundation has forged powerful partnerships over the years with a primary focus on showcasing the incredible creativity of young individuals participating in our projects.
Thank you to Canon, Official Imaging Supplier of Rugby World Cup 2023, for their support with the Coronation Generation Poster Design Challenge 👑
Funded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), this project encouraged young people to engage in creating posters using photography, copywriting, typography, and graphic design to reflect one or more of the key themes: community, diversity, sustainability, and youth.
[Image: Students from Maesglas Primary School, Wales.] 🏉
When asked about the community - the young people from Newport immediately thought of the rugby.
